Methi Puri (Indian Fried Bread with fenugreek leaves)

Puri is an unleavened bread that is usually made with whole wheat flour and deep fried. Various vegetables can be added to it to give it different flavors. This particular one is made with methi or fenugreek leaves and is a winter time comfort food.

Whole Wheat Flour – 1 cup
Finely Chopped Methi/ Fenugreek Leaves – 1 cup
Oil – 2 tbsp.
Salt – 1 tbsp. or to taste
Water (for kneading) – ¼ cup
Directions
- Finely chop fenugreek leaves
- In a bowl , add chopped leaves, salt, oil, and flour. Mix well.
- Add water slowly and start kneading into a dough
- Knead until a smooth dough is formed.
- Cover and let it rest for 15 mins.
- Divide the dough into 4-6 portions and make round balls from each portion.
- Apply little oil on them and roll into small circles using a rolling pin.
- Deep fry for 4 mins, turn and fry on the other side for 2 mins.
- Serve hot with tomato chutney or lemon pickle.
